Daddy Emu and his chicks

Old Man Emu’s full name is Dromaius Novaehollandiae. While female emus lay the eggs, it is the father emus who look after the babies (chicks) when they hatch. This picture is painted on prepared hessian and shows the emu daddy running up a hill, followed a little chaotically by his chicks. Emus can have a tendency to panic an run in circles.
