Pelle & The Birds

2017

(Dimensions: Height: 1510 cm – Width: 970 cm)

This double picture features a wheel of Australian bush birds who are listed in the book.  Above them are a series of pelicans depicted as water-bombing aviators. Pele is also known as Pelecanus conspicillatus, or the Australian pelican. He has amazing blue feet if you ever get to see him out of the water. He actually prefers catching fish in his big-pouched beak. Pelicans do not really fight fires by scooping up water in their beaks.  Fun fact: Australia’s Pelican comes from a family of birds that some estimate to be at least 30 million years old and is found all over the world (except Antarctica where it is tooo cold). Pelicans migrate in search of food.
